It's almost a year since the Lindy Hop world gathered in New York city to celebrate the life of Frankie Manning on the week of what would have been his 95th birthday. Frankie passed away a month before the event. One of the memorable moments of the event was the Silver Shadows performance - a tribute to Frankie Manning. I still get a chill when I watch this clip.
Toronto celebrates Frankie Manning on May 29th.

This class focused on dancing to faster songs. The main focus was to stay calm, stay in control, stay focused on your partner, dance what you do well, build on what you can do, and to DO IT - dance to faster songs. We did some swingout work and finished with a little Charleston combo.

[Lesson Preview]
March brings us a fifth Tuesday in the Month. To make Tuesday # 5 just a little more special, we have these great classes planned for YOU!
6pm Transitions Lindy Hop 1.5 - Six count magic
There are many Lindy Hop movements that can be done in the standard eight counts but really work better in six counts. Doing these movements in six counts allows your dancing to transparently flow from movement to movement. In a nut shell, it keeps your dancing swingin'! If you've never done a six count or need to refine how it fits in with the rest of your Lindy Hop, this class is for you.
7pm Beginner Lindy Hop - Putting it all together
We've got our Swingouts, Lindy Circles, inside and outside turns. A boogie drop, a camel walk, and maybe a peck, peck, peck. This last class in March will put it all together for you to take out to the social dance floor (if you haven't already).
8pm Intermediate+ Lindy Hop - Dance fast. Swing Easy
Dancing to fast and energetic swing music is fun, fun, fun! But some people find it too tiring and too much work. This class will give you some tips and technique for when the music really starts to swing FAST. You don't want to miss this one.

Lindy hop swing dance classes take place every Tuesday nights at The Bees' Knees dance studio located at 765B Yonge St, just North of Bloor (above the Starbucks).
$10/class (half price for students and seniors) Classes are Pay-As-You-Go & Drop-In Friendly.
